We played 2 games. First the kids got to throw darts at balloons, behind each ballon was either a red X, a blue X or a $. If they got a red X they got to pick a prize out the red bag that was full of toy bracelets, whistles, bubbles and squirt guns. If they got a blue X they got to pick a prize out of the blue bag that was full of assorted candy. If they got a $, they got a dollar! We used the same prize system for the next game. We wrapped a styrafoam cube with wrapping paper and stuck dum-dum suckers in it. Each stick had either a red tip or blue tip on it and in addition to getting to keep the sucker, the kids got a prize. We passed out white lunch sacks for the kids to keep their prizes in. Afterwards all the kids got treat bags filled with candy.
Then we opened presents. Josie made herself comfortable by propping her feet up on the table and watched everything going on. She got excited each time a new present was opened and got very upset when it was taken away from her....until she got the next one. She got lots of great stuff including books, clothes, toys and dolls.
After presents, we stripped her down, sang happy birthday to her and give her the cake. She just barely dipped into it at first (with help from her cousin, Jon-Michael) then she really got into it, putting her whole face in it at one time.
It was a great day! Thanks to everyone who came and everyone who sent cards and gifts and well wishes!
